DEATH PENALTY ISSUE - School Curriculums
The World Coalition Against the Death Penalty published the following curriculum guides to assist teachers and faculty members develop a program of study on the death penalty for their high schools, colleges and law schools. According to the guides, the World Coalition would like students to "understand the state of the world they are living in: the severity, and sometimes cruelty, but also the beauty of the human rights ideal." Please feel free to use these guides to educate your students, stir a debate, and connect to schools all across the world that are using the same materials.

Curriculum Guides from Death Penalty Information Center
We would like to highlight some new resources available to educators and students using our free curriculum, Capital Punishment in Context.
DPIC recently released a new mobile application for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. This free application provides access to the most frequently used resources on DPIC's main website, including our Fact Sheet on the Death Penalty, our Execution Database, and the most recent death penalty news from around the country. It can be downloaded through iTunes or by visiting the App Store on a mobile device.
Additionally, we recently produced two podcast episodes that answer questions submitted by DPIC readers, including educators and students who use our curricula. Those podcast episodes are now available online and can be found at http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/dpic-podcasts.
DPIC is also proud to announce that our website www.deathpenaltyinfo.org recently received a 5-star overall rating from MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resources for Learning and Online Teaching). The MERLOT project is an international initiative, enabling faculty to integrate technology into higher education. The reviewers gave us five stars each for Content Quality, Effectiveness, and Ease of Use. The full review, which mentions our curriculum, can be seen at
